FOUNDATIONS

More than 70 Flint community leaders have taken the Public Conversations Project training the Power of Dialogue, sponsored by the Ruth Mott Foundation, to help address a variety of divisive issues in the Michigan city.
Nonprofits must collaborate. Foundations require it. Scarce resources necessitate it. But a history of competition and different institutional practices, missions, and worldviews can make working together difficult. The Public Conversations Project has worked with a variety of foundations and grantees to foster meaningful collaborations that advance program goals:
  • Supporting collaboration among grantees, between funders and grantees, or within a foundation
  • Helping grantees work together and make the most of limited resources during tough economic times
  • Addressing and preventing costly conflicts among foundations and grantees through trainings and dialogue facilitation
  • Consultation and coaching for addressing power differences and organizational dynamics in foundations
The Public Conversations Project has provided dialogue, training, and consultation services for the following foundations:
The Annie E. Casey Foundation
The Ford Foundation
The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation
The Johnson Foundation
The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation
The Moriah Fund
The Ruth Mott Family Foundation
The Pew Charitable Trusts
The Lumpkin Family Foundation
The Nonprofit Partnership (Erie, PA)
The Waitt Institute for Violence Prevention
